FYI - Entrecard Visitors this is for those who are wondering why we are not returning drops for the past few days. the servers are wacking us whenever we get near a widget, regardless. it's just become a deathjoke, so we thought you deserved answers today. apparently Entrecard doesn't think we deserve any answers, to the notes we've written to them from our dashboard.  we are somehow in the EntreDEADZONE. If we should get an answer from them finally, we'll be sure to post it for everyones' perusal and opinionating.

obviously something is STILL Wrong with your servers.
I clicked on a widget once - it comes back, 1 Per Day.

Why is this suddenly becoming a non proposition ?
today I get to make three drops before the servers start crap with my account ?
I think you guys need to look into this and post some explanation for the rest of us who are consistently being fed the penalties for doing nothing. not even dropping.

maybe you really should blog about the behind the scenes issues so we really understand what is happening, since there is obviously a big problem. and yes this will be on the front of my blog - just so everyone else knows I am asking - but still getting no response, even though you say you will respond within 24 hours.

I'm at the 72 hour mark still waiting on any response,

HELL NO FRIDAY - Entrecard has put up to 8 additional cards on your widget

Somehow it seems Entrecard Does Not Want OUR Drops - so with that said, we're going to begin the exit process.  we hope that you understand why we'll be pulling TWO of Our Blogs OUT Of Entrecard Before Christmas.

The Consistent Loss of drops and credits does not add up. neither does the lost time. the problem happens over and over.  randomly during the week we get these penalties and loose the drop day as well.

is this a new power move within the Entrecard Enforcement Strategy when you decide to monitor your paid ads ?

Ahhhhh YES ! Now We Know why this happened - we went into our dashboard and managed the invisible load of ads there were blocking the EC Paid Ads from showing on our widget. Think Back EC Bloggers, Did You Get an Announcement of Any Additional Ads Being Put onto Your Widget, or that you could Preview Them ?

When We Opened the Dashboard to look at the ads, There were 8 paid ads. you are only allowed to block 4 of them.  that means if you are paying for ads with EC's;  you will be paying for very minimal visibility. At most you'll get 1/5 of your ec paid impressions; because they are merged with the CASH ADS, NOW.

go test it for yourself and then you can see that this is not a game, nor is this a hoax. Entrecard has put up to 8 additional cards on your widget without your knowledge or the consideration of those who pay for EC Ads with EC's Instead of Cash.

That's What Made the Decision for Us Today - 9 ads on our widgets when we should have only been splitting the widget with two others

at first we missed it, but when we went back and noticed that we had such a glut of paid ads, blocking the EC Drop Paid Ad; we made the change and blocked out all except the required Four Ads.

In Case You Haven't Noticed, some of the same ads were already preventing your EC Paid ads from being shown on widgets that were queued. to test it we refreshed the page up to 6 times to finally see Our EC Paid Ad, Last.

we have alot of credits to spend on ads; and within the next month we're going to be spending them and advertising even more than before - if we're not removed before we can.

It seems like such a sorry strategy to block your biggest droppers from dropping, because they are technologically faster than you.  simply put, we use a drop list and we have always used the same list.

the entrecard servers hate drop lists because they can't track you when you skip their toolbar.  that means you are a wild card to the system until you reach your dashboard, and reach 300 drops.  the system will ignore your drops in the toolbar, and that pisses the servers and apparently the security server scripts off.

Being a Good Blogger means more than dropping, which is why you find our comments all over the place; our notes on peoples dashboards, and lots of interaction within our circle.  we dont' feel very confident with the rules in the present entrecard rulebook;  since it seems to grow weekly, without notice or need.  sort of like the new penalty flag's.

Maybe it's really time to look at what your time is worth, since apparently Entrecard doesn't think it's worth the time you spend clicking to Advertise.

Next Week we'll be exploring Blogging Circles and Advertising Effectiveness; across our Three Blogs.  some posts will help to clarify the situation, since it seems to become muddier all the time.  Entrecard needs to mature and accept that Rules are Rules.  Basically,  if we have to live by them, then they shouldn't change them daily, to support their point without consideration of their community.

I received an Entrecard penalty tonight  WITHOUT WARNING; that is apparently so new they haven't had time to create any documentation on it, in the tos, or users manual. now that's what I call brand stankin new.

 tonite when dropping, I got a penalty for who knows what reason. not a normal penalty mind you - but something totally new, a Cool Off time peroid flag. yes that's what it looks like above. it's the response you see on a widget after you drop on it, and the penalty is imposed.

I don't want to think that they Invented This Penalty For ME, but it's not in the Entrecard Book - Anywhere, and It's Not Google-able

I was actually dropping on the sites where my ad is displayed. Suddenly the widgets stopped changing, and Wham; it appeared when I reached approximately 145 drops. amazingly it only happened on This One; out of of  my three accounts. that is also part of the mystery. I'm waiting for them to write me back and explain this new penalty and clarify what reason they think I need a time out; not to mention a fine of 585 credits.

makes me wonder if my wrist doc has been talking to them, about my carpel tunnel issues

maybe my dropping 900 cards a day is finally getting their attention. or maybe I've reached that threshold that they set for members who consistently drop high numbers daily. eitherway it came with no explanation. no clarifying email has followed yet, and believe it or not, they even allowed me to drop an additional 300 cards on another account after the penalty was given.

I've checked the entrebook for any info on the penalty and there's none.

I think this is a NEW Penalty, and if you're not careful they may impose it on you.

Honestly, can you imagine hosting a social network and issuing mystery penalties to members, who do what your network calls for them to do;  Visit Other Members Blogs. yes it's true, Entrecard is "possibly" going to penalize you if you drop more than 140 cards in a day; even though their rules say you may drop up to 300 cards per day; per account.  remember they let me drop 300 cards on Two other accounts, but the one which asked the question was hit with the penalty - amazing.

it seems so much more sinister that they created the penalty, but no explanation. their delayed response also adds a lil flavor to their special punishment.  I guess I'm such a bad dropper they want me to ponder it all.  Apparently this is just another one of those things that makes ya go Hmmmmm,,,

I can almost smell Dick Cheney lurking around. Heheheee,

 

actually I think it's because I asked a question the other day about a missing ad credit reimbursement which was rejected. the ad never played because the site was removed from entrecard. I wrote them asking them to reimburse me for the non display of the ad - they told me to write to the owner of the site; who by this time was no longer a member of entrecard.  apparently it pissed them off, so you shouldn't do that. - take note,

The way they are as individuals; but as part of a group, that functions together. not perfect or precision - but functioning. they're not the tempting Temptations; all wrapped in silk and gliding past. these guys work the sweat up on your neck. and you want it, baddddddd. kinda like how pissed we get when Entrecard makes these Funky changes.. Ahhhhhhhh There You Go,

This is what we think our blogging buddies remind us of, that unconstructed FUNK.

this isnt' easy to achieve; but we've been through our favorites list tonite and dropped 300 cards, before 2am. yes from just this blog.

why ? 

well partly because we wanted to see the widget in action and also to see what's going on in the entresphere with blogs departing. it's different, but not as bare as some might have predicted or feared. it's pretty much business as normal.

there are some of my favs gone, or missing. when they left, there was no doubt that they had come up with a plan to replace those hits from entrecard; and hopefully a link to keep us together.

I've subscribed and friended so-many blogs in the past two weeks; that I am reading as many of them on my desktop as I can, from my inbox google feed. yupper. we get it in the mail when we dont' feel the card game.

The sponsor ads system is starting today. Currently, we are not taking any outside sponsors. As of now, there are only 2 ads in circulation. This first is an Entrecard ad that links back to entrecard.com. The 2nd ad is promoting Entrecard Market which is linked to entrecard.com/market. You can view the list of sponsors in your dashboard under the “sponsors ads” tab. Please note that you can disable one of the ads (not both) by clicking the button below the image. The remaining ad will run no more than 15% of your widget impressions. If you wish to opt-out completely, you can do so at the rate of $5/month or $50/ year (optional). This is also located under the “Sponsor ads” link.

Yesterday alot of bloggers departed from the Entrecard community - because they were afraid of what this change would reflect on their blogs. I think they may have faired well.

there are more Please Subscribe Requests being posted on the front of blogs - and more RSS Feed Subscription Widgets appearing than every before.  this is obviously the smartest move most of these bloggers have ever made.

Leaving this cardgame will probably ensure that their blog has Live Action and Visitors.
Remember, entrecard can deliver them - but you have to keep them coming back; as well as subscribing.

We've decided to stick it out for the long haul, and we're back to dropping cards, leaving comments and buying ads. we figure that Bloggers will visit to see what you've written; clickfarmers - well they do what they always do, click and run. that's expected from them anyway.

the new bloggers will subscribe if they realize the transiency of entrecard's membership.
most of the blogs here would pass by each-other unnoticed;
were there not a forced socialization mechanizm in place.
That Mechanism - Entrecard, drives traffic; and unfortunately Paid Ads..

the twist is this, Why is entrecard running impressions on the widgets without adjusting their impressions into the cost of the EC PAID ADS that Are Running on the widget during that time peroid ? Ah Ha ! We Have Found the Perverbial Fly in the Ointment

and trying to figure out what this move means,
not figuratively but financially to entrecard.

Are they using this display time of their impressions; as their sales bait to their new advertisers ?

and entrecard plans to take full advantage of it, believe that.

Apologies to all those blogs who we cancelled as Advertisers;
as well as the ADS we cancelled. WE Flipped The Script Today

the simple facts are :

1. the time we spent returning drops to blogs was crazy and not reciprocated equally
   
2. time is money so we have to make money instead of Playing cards all day
   
3. blogging is to be read and commented - that's not happening enough for us with Entrcard

With that said - we say Hasta La Vista to The Card Game; and get with a smarter program, RedGage

Personally I'm a big fan of Wu Tang and Kung Fu Flicks so I recognized it as "Stiff Hand" or in America - "Pimp Hand" immediately.

The only remedy my Fellow Entrecarders is to either bow to the master and accept his "Pimp Hand Ticket"; or say that Your Wu Tang is Stronger.

we know our Wu Tang is Really Strong so We're going to see how they push their plan across the table on Oct 5th. We'll continue to see the battle from the inside for as long as our hummer holds out. then we're off to the bunker.

Next Take a Good Look at your drop pattern - Seriously Doh,

is it consistent ? do you visit the same blogs daily ? if you have more than 150 blogs in your friends blogs list on entrecard, maybe it's time to really look at what's on those blogs that make them Your Favorites.

Somewhere in this list of Friends who drop consistently is a blog that somehow you enjoy, but maybe they don't think the same of your blog. Yes I'm speaking of " Blog Envy". many folks don't admit it, but there are many blogs that we visit and wish that we were that popular; or our template was tweeked just so. yeah, I said it. Blog Envy.

take a few minutes and look at those blogs you envy - what is it about that blog that makes you like it ? is it the design, the layout, the amount of interaction and comments ? You're looking at your growth plan when you examine these elements.

Next take a look at your inbox and see who from this list of Blogs You Envy drops on you consistently. this is what you want to assess. why do the folks who drop on you comeback ? if you don't know, drop them a comment or even a note and ask them - what keeps them coming back.

next look at those blogs in your drop list who consistently visit, but don't update or comment - These Are The Problem Blogs - or as I call them the Coverts who are covering up why they are visiting you and others regularly, without interacting.

there is one thing Entrecard needs to do - create a way to Block Drops from those who may have possibly been in some way a bad blog experience for you. if Entrecard allowed this - do you think it would stop this Blog Envy and present the ability to really enjoy Entrecard for you ? I'd say YES.

there are clickfarmers still raping our blogs and many of them are doing it with bad intention. Entrecard still has not owned up to their part in enabling this behaviour. until they look at it as an abuse issue, instead of ignoring it - the problem will only intensify.

My final bit of advice is to avoid blogs that offer you NO Interaction - No Comments, and nothing but using Your Blog as a source of credits.

Entrecard needs to mature in the sense that bloggers should be Respected. Blogs should also be given a fairer assessment in terms of credit value.

how can a blog which updated 3 months ago still be valued at 512 credits per day - when they have nothing to offer different than the last 89 days you saw it ? STUPID and one of the causes of Extreme Blog Envy.

Instead of asking for more realestate on blogs - Entrecard needs to learn to manage what space they have already on your blog more effectively. Do Not Allow a Blog which is more than 25% Ads INTO Entrecard - Simple.

if you are not a Blogger - Become an Advertiser. Stop Ruining the Blogging experience for so many others who consistently find time to write, interact and comment. those who've found friendship and like mindedness in bloggers who they visit daily, because they Enjoy The Writing and Experience, Not because they want to raise your bouncerate and devalue your blog by infecting it with a virus, on your return visit to them.

Courtesy is important, but Safety is Much More Relevant in this case

If You've dropped on me and I haven't returned the drop - stop dropping on me. it's because you aren't writing about anything I find interesting. probably I've read your blog the first time you milked me, and felt the drop fever, not the love. that means I won't be back.

why not take the hint and be a good egg and find somewhere else to deposit your clicktrash like on a fellow clickfarmer.

We think if they did, no one would willingly join it - but maybe if you were caught clickfarming or virusbaiting - you could be put there by fellow entrecarders; who would then know Who You Are and What You've Done.

Earlier today when returning drops to my visitors, I began to notice a disturbing trend -

EC Widgets Basically HIDDEN or On the Bottom of Pages.

What's Up With That Folks ?

I decided to rethink my drop policy and make myself a part of the solution not the problem - I'm taking personal responsibility; and thats' what I feel we can each do if we feel personally about this issue.

FYI - If I drop my hard earned ec's into an ad on your site, you can bet it's not going to be on a widget below the fold.

I also decided to send a few notes to those who dropped on me and who's widgets were in a place on the page that made me wonder

"why they even bothered to put the widget on their page"

- some of those I wrote will probably send me back some nasty reply - which I expect; but honestly I tried to find a way to word my note to them that wouldn't be SO Offensive.

So If You Got one of my notes, think about what the note said before you fire off an angry response about the issue; And Above All - PLEASE think of those who are dropping ec's to put their ad on your blog, ONE Drop Per EC, NO MORE Two Ec's Per Drop. your goodthing is over now..

Jaaaane stop this crazy thiiiingggg

On Sundays we enjoy pondering many things; especially while we grocery shop and drive place to place doing our errands. this switch seeemed like something we could use around Entrecard these days.. I know.. I'm soooo baaaadddd. but somebody had to say it; so why not me, as usual.

Being that I'm a boomer, I love Ms. Jane Jetson. she does after all represent me. So For Today -  I'll Adopt My Ms Jane, and believe me - Ms Jane is NOT Amused with Entrecard; being that this is the future of blogging and all that other *grahamtoric.

The central theme today is still Entrecard. We wrote a piece today on EntrePOD all about the Pink Ribbon we have on our dashboard for this site.  and before you ask, it's Not For Decoration Daisy.

As All Of You Know Our friend Ms Daisy the curly cat starts all kinds of fashion trends on entrecard; (and we don't want her thinking we're tryin somethin on our own over here).

in the interest of time, I'll just repost it instead of linking to it.

Before I get started, let me say that this is just my experience as of recent;  and it is not hopefully an indication of the present state of Entrecard; nor a statement of what may become of Entrecard in the future.

several days ago, all of our sites were struck with a redirect bug. the bug worked it’s way across our self hosted platform of 4 blogs; as well as into our blogger hosted blog - BadGalSays. 5 blogs at once.


well in typical fastdraw fashion Entrecard posted a warning ribbon on my dashboard. I must admit the pretty pink was quite entertaining the first couple times I saw it; but as the problem has long been remedied and fixed – and I’ve contacted them to confirm the fix – Ms Jane wants to know why is it still there ?

Okay so I’ve written them more than 10 times to ask them to remove the ribbon; since I’ve rebuilt the site in question, sanitized it and it’s now working flawlessly - As You The Reader Can See.


This weekend while dropping ec's I’ve noticed several blogs, who are complaining of similar problems; for extended peroids of time as well. Ohh OOOOOOhhhhh This Is Noooot Goooood for a start up management co. who seemed eager to put Entrecard Back On It's Upright Legs. makes you wonder if they're at the beach with Graham..

Entrecard Has Massed OUT - Smilies Requested

Well Well Wellllll. Entrecard now has a staff - as we say in Jamaica "Dem Mass Out"


When we got the blog tonite, we noticed an immediate improvement. just the fact that we know what may or may-not be happening behind the scenes, makes us happier. There was a Professional air to blog, and the announcement of a New Director of Business Development. That means stuff is getting done.
She indicates that there is a plan being developed. Can You Imagine, Entrecard working with the rules in place, instead of changed to meet mood or needs of the previous owners.

A Couple of the most important changes were announced tonight. I belive they will have an immediate impact on the entrecard economy, and the morale or it's many members. I'm looking forward to seeing the categories finally cleaned up of dead blogs; and a real count put in place. This would allow for proper credit of popularity. that would be like a cherry ontop of the cake.

maybe if they finally get around to it, they'll also look at a system to allow user ratings and utilize that data to better assess the quality of a blog, instead of the ridiculous points system that is presently in place.  trust me, no blog should be in top place if they don't update at least every 7 days. how could they be current if they didn't. Blogs that get lots of comments should also be recognized for their popularity. this would I believe help to cut the problem we all see in bounce rate. You would read to be able to rate and then get the points;
extra points for leaving a rating and a comment. that's what blogs rely on. Comments and Return Visits.

Mostly the interaction with visitors is what we want, and what makes a blog's true popularity measurable. there must be some way to recognize the blogs that set trends as well, and that serve special populations. We do think that their first initiatives are spectacular; as they read with clarity; what Graham ignored vehemently.

The elimination of paid ads and the cashout programs are totally correct for a new startup. this is basically a new start up, because the owners are taking a barely functioning social network / virtual advertising company - and attempting to revive it;

to the delight of the users

We Wish Cindy Ung - Director of Business Development; and the new owners nothing but good will and fairness in their changeover process. it takes alot of grit to build a company from the ground. Graham had a vision, and maybe Andrew can make it a reality. We Sure Hope So.

Goodbye, Paid Ads

Dear Entrecard Members,

My name is Cindy and I am the new Director of Business Development for Entrecard. I will be representing the Entrecard team in future posts and will be relaying information about new Entrecard changes and updates to users. I am excited to be working for Entrecard and look forward to reading your opinions and comments about Entrecard services.

We are making great progress with the transition and have come up with several ways to refine needed Entrecard services. I would like to inform you about two important changes.

Effective immediately, we will no longer accept applications for “paid ads” on your widget space. Based on user comments and blog posts, users have not been happy with the “paid ads” that was implemented a few months ago. Although a good portion of the revenue (75%) is given back to the users through the “credit cashout program,” we have found that most users would prefer not to have “paid ads” on their widgets at all. As a result, we have decided to eliminate “paid ads” on your widget. We are no longer accepting new “paid ads” and any ads currently in the system will continue to run until they are completed.

Second, we have received many user requests to redeem credits for cash through the “credit cashout program.” Some users have been paid while many users have not. Since we are ending the “paid ads” program, we are also eliminating the “credit cashout program.” As promised, we will continue to pay as many users as we can with the remaining funds from the “paid ads” system. Within the next 3 days, we will distribute the remaining funds from the “paid ads” to users on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once these funds run out, we will reissue credits back to those users who applied for the cashout program but did not receive money. An email notification will be sent out to our users.

We understand that eliminating the “credit cashout program” may upset some users. However, Entrecard is actively developing ways for Entrecard users to use, sell and trade their credits. This is on the top of our priority list.

Once again, we feel that ending the “paid ads” and “cashout” program will benefit Entrecard and its users in the long run. We understand what your concerns are and we intend to address them. Thank you for being a valued member. Stay tuned for updates.
