Is Yeezie Smarter than ITunes ?

Recently Kanye West gave an impromptu in flight performance for co-passengers on Delta Air flying from Minneapolis to New York.

I think I'd love to have been on that flight -

This is clipped from Rollingstone

Kanye West took over the PA system of a Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis to New York Friday—and rapped lyrics from two of his songs. A passenger told HollywoodLife.com that West, who was seated in first class, suddenly was heard on the plane's loudspeaker approximately 30 minutes into the flight, rapping clean versions of "The Good Life" and "Gold Digger." "I had to pass through first class to get my seat in economy, and I saw Kanye sitting there with a little drink in his hand," the passenger said. "I wouldn't have even thought it was him, but he was sitting with a very PR-looking lady. He was like, 'Yo, this your n---a, Kanye.' Then he couldn't decide if he wanted to do 'The Good Life' or 'Gold Digger,' so he was like, 'I'll just do a little bit of both.' It was awesome ... but I still have no idea how he got into the cockpit."

The passenger also said that rather than leaving the plane first, like many first-class passengers, "He filed out in line with everyone else, and I thought that was pretty cool. Especially for Kanye."

By Sunday, Kanye was in Spain at the MTV Europe Awards, making a surprise appearance with 30 Seconds to Mars.

Recently on Pod313.com we posted a piece about Youtube and Mixtape Millionaires - clearly this is another example of that genius tactic in action. Guerilla marketing is nothing new to Kanye because he started doing it when he was a teenager. in fact he's done it consistently throughout his career.  he hawked mixtapes to get the money to do Jesus Walks. that made him a millionaire right out of the stall. rarely does that happen to an artist. But then again This is Yeezie.

This is how a smart business person takes advantage of a situation to move a few units. no doubt ITunes got quite a few hits for Yeezie's new piece post flight. too bad he didn't have a deal in place with ITunes to pass out a coupon for those on the flight to buy the new one and get an old one free. that would really be a way to move some units uuhhh ruhhh CD's. yes we meant CD's People CD's.

It was also nice to see the report that he was just like other passengers and not living the High Life, as is often reported about Ye. It's good to see a brotha making money and not letting it go to his head. Apparently the time in Hawaii and Europe did him some good. His numbers are good on the New CD and things are looking good for him in the press. lets hope he does more inflight concerts and keeps it level. This is the making of a superman indeed.

Smart Move Yeezie, convert em while they airborne.
