Kanji Art Management proudly present on Tour in July & August 2009 in Europe: The Ethiopians featuring Leonard Dillon backed by Dubtonic Kru (Jamaica), also presenting its own show featuring Kamau, Jallanzo (guitar) & Jubba (drummer, dubpoet).
Fee: from 9.000 to 12.000 euros (depending on some conditions to agree)

Essentially a mouthpiece for singer and songwriter Leonard Dillon, the Ethiopians were one of Jamaica's most influential vocal groups during their heyday. Not only did the duo (completed by Stephen Taylor) spearhead the transition between ska and rocksteady, Dillon's heavily Rastafarian lyrics also paved the way for the socially conscious roots reggae era that was to come.
Bless, Kanji & Kru

The new Easy Star All-Stars album, EASY STAR'S LONELY HEARTS DUB BAND, comes out today. You've already heard us go on about what a great record this is, so we'll let some other folks praise the record for a moment:

"Your oasis of surreality in a vast desert of indie-rockin' blandness." - Village Voice

"It's a safe bet that the modern 'Lonely Hearts' will not only be embraced by die-hard Beatles fans, but introduce The Beatles' magic to a whole new group of listeners." - Washington Examiner

"...soulful, spaced-out jams that feel weighty and weightless at the same time." - San Francisco Chronicle

"These reggaefied takes are so cleverly done - with arrangements that are aptly inventive, rather than reverential - that only the dullest musical snob could fail to be entertained by them. 4 stars." - The Independent (UK)

"...there can't be much more fun to be had in the world than listening to Bunny Rugs' brave take on 'Lovely Rita'" - Timeout London

"...the All-Stars have...created a strong contender for party record of the summer. 8 out of 10." - Press Association (UK)

The early buzz has been pretty incredible, with coverage in tons of major publications from the UK to Australia to Holland to the US. Help 'em out by buying the record this week, through their webstore or at any retail location, physical or digital. First week sales are very important! If you like the record, please write reviews on iTunes or Amazon. Each of these steps helps in spreading the word and keeping the buzz on the album growing. We also have put a new poster into the store, along with a 4" circular bumper sticker. If you order now through the webstore <;106748;aBjCN%2BM%2BVrduxhz4rNuk9PU6NmIaFABP&src=NEWS106748> , or any time until May 14, you can get a free sticker with an order of $9 or more.

Zucchini is one of the most common summer vegetables, but, unfortunately, I'm not that fond of it. Zucchini bread is a whole different story, though.

3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
3/4 cup unbleached white flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup light walnut oil or safflower oil
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup plain soy milk
1/4 cup apple juice
1 cup grated zucchini
1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Oil a standard loaf pan. Set aside one tablespoon of grated zucchini for garnishing the top.
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Whisk wet ingredients in a medium bowl and add to dry. Stir just enough to incorporate all ingredients, then srit in zucchini and nuts.
Transfer mixture to loaf pan and distribute remaining zucchini over the surface. Bake until golden, about 45 minutes.
Allow loaf to cool in pan for about ten minutes, then turn out and let cool on a wire rack.

'Til next week……. Stay Green, Lean And Sexy…With an "Animal Free" lifestyle

"BUS STOP" – Available on iTUNES

The song titled BUS STOP was written as a dedication to all the people in Jamaica and worldwide waiting at the bus stop. In Jamaica, due to a poor economy, many citizens do not own a car. Taking the bus to and from work, shopping etc is something that the masses do on a regular. The transportation system is a system which is riddled with inefficiency. The bus rarely follows a timed schedule. They are not maintained on a regular so often there are roadside breakdowns. The lyrics in this tune touches on the everyday trials and tribulations of the average person using mass transit as seen through the one experience of the traveling Rasta man...SCORCHA!
The feelings in these lyrics vocalized on the riddim of Dreadskin Studios creates an upbeat somewhat humorous look at a frustrating situation that common people worldwide can relate to.

SCORCHA /Robert Williams – Lyrics & Vocals

Dreadskin Studio / Jens Hoeger – Riddim Composer

DUB LOUNGE INTERNATIONAL : : Dub Lounge One (Ancient Vessel)
Seattle's Dub Lounge International (DLI) is live dub reggae at its best. Ranging from original dancehall grooves to solid old-school standards, DLI offers up a blend of fair-trade organic roots and culture while staying true to the Jamaican sound. Their sultry three-part harmony and melodic soundscape infects listeners with contagious dub meditations.

Beginning as a recording project co-produced by drummer Dan Lloyd and bassist Norman Baker, the band expanded their dub onslaught by enlisting Jonathan Kimball on guitar, Darin Pearson on keys, and Naphtali Rashid on vocals, percussion, and harmonica. Several of the players formed the original Wet City Rockers and currently back reggae legend Winston Jarrett as the solid Foundation Rockers. DLI members have also played with reggae greats such as Prezident Brown, Wadi Gad, Lutan Fyah, and ADX, and have shared the stage with Midnite, Rankin' Skroo, Dezire, Clinton Fearon, the Itals, Fishbone, Buju Banton, Groundation, Yami Bolo, and Israel Vibration.

Simply titled Dub Lounge One, their new album is set for release in February and is the perfect soundtrack for any fine day. Winston Jarrett, Ezra Tosh, and Puddu Dawes are featured on the album. One listen to Dub Lounge One proves it is just the beginning of what promises to be a bright future for DLI.

the album can be purchased on iTunes and CDbaby.

ISHI DUBE : : LionCamp
Ishi Dube is a talented and determined artist with a profound love for reggae music. On stage, Dube doesn't miss a beat; he gives a sincere, energetic, and uplifting performance. Not only a singer/ song writer, Dube is also a skilled producer, musician, and sound engineer, he is involved in nearly every process of production from the roots to the fruits. Dube's natural talent and hard work are sure to gain notoriety in the world of reggae music.

Now Ishi Dube is exploding on to the scene, bringing a genuine roots reggae sound with a contemporary dancehall edge to the reggae community everywhere. With lyrical content ranging from political to spiritual; to messages of societal change, Ishi's vocal styles range from a sweet and melodic roots sound to a rougher, rhythmic deejay delivery. Dube grasps the attention of his audiences with multiple vocal techniques, accompanied by heavy riddims covering nearly every sub-genre of reggae; from ska, lover's rock and roots, to dub, rockers, and dancehall.

Universal Balance Entertainment is proud to present "Lion Camp", Ishi Dube's follow-up album. Lion Camp is an association of talented reggae artists who are both highly motivated and true to the spirit that reggae music was founded on. This collective was formed by Ishi Dube and fellow artist, Jah Sun with a vision to unify like minded artists by promoting, touring and recording together. With this strong network, each artist helps the next one rise. There are currently over twenty Lioncamp artists hailing from all parts of the globe and the network continues to grow. Dube's new album is based on this philosophy, and features many guest artists such as Ras Attitude (USVI), Winstrong (Suriname) , Jah Sun (U.S.) , and Capleton (Jamaica).

Creating the "Lion Camp" album has been a labor of love for Ishi Dube who not only wrote the all lyrics, but also produced and arranged the music for nearly all sixteen songs. Some of the songs on the album include: "Bruk Dem Bubble" ft. Capleton - A fiery anthem about military recruiting and a failing economy. "Emptiness" ft Mike Marshall - A hip-hop/dancehall cross-over about finding positive solutions to life's problems. "Unification" ft Luna Angel - A song of unity reminding us to value those around us. The album art is beautiful, the music is well-produced, and the message is powerful.

The Warrior of Light and his temperament BY PAOLO COELLO
The Warrior of Light can afford to live each day different from the next.

He is not afraid of crying over old regrets or feeling happy at new discoveries.

When he feels that the hour has come, he casts everything aside and departs for the adventure he has dreamed so long about.

When he understands that he is at the limit of his endurance, he leaves the fight, without feeling apologetic for having done one or two crazy and quite unexpected things.

The story below illustrates what I mean.

A man in quest of sanctity decided to climb a high mountain with just the clothes on his back and remain up there meditating for the rest of his life.

Soon he realized that one set of clothes was not enough, because it would get dirty very quick.

He descended the mountain, went to the nearest village and asked for other clothes.

Since everyone knew that the man was in quest of sanctity, they handed him a new pair of shoes and a shirt.

The man thanked them and climbed back up to the hermitage he was building on the top of the mountain.

He spent the night putting up the walls and the days in meditation, eating the fruit of the trees and drinking the water of a nearby spring.

One month later he discovered that a mouse was chewing the extra clothes he had left to dry.

Since he wanted to concentrate only on his spiritual duty, he went back down to the village and asked them to find him a cat.

The villagers, in respect for his mission, satisfied his request.

Another seven days and the cat was almost dying of starvation because it could not eat just fruit, and there were no more mice in the place.

He went back down to the village for milk; as the villagers knew it was not for him – after all, he resisted without eating anything other than what nature offered him - once more they helped him.

The cat finished the milk quickly, so the man asked them to lend him a cow.

Since the cow gave more milk than was needed, he began to drink it too, so as not to waste it. In a short time – breathing the mountain air, eating fruit, meditating, drinking milk and doing exercises – he turned into a model of beauty.

A lovely girl who climbed the mountain looking for her lamb fell in love with him and convinced him that he needed a wife to look after the house while he meditated in peace.

The man spent three days fasting, trying to know which was the best decision to make.

Finally he understood that marriage is a blessing from above, and accepted the proposal.

Three years later, the man was married, with two sons, three cows, an orchard of fruit trees, and he ran a place for meditation, with a huge waiting line of people who wanted to know the miraculous "temple of eternal youth."

When someone asked him how all that had started, he would say:

"Two weeks after I arrived up here, I had only two garments. A mouse began to chew one of them, and..."

But no-one was interested in the end of the story; they were sure that he was a wise businessman just trying to invent a legend to be able to raise even higher the price he charged the lodgers at the temple.

But like a good Warrior of Light, he did not bother about what others thought; he was happy because he was able to transform his dreams into reality.
